The original series that started it all has finally come to Blu-Ray disc, and in a complete series set no less. Featuring some commentary, enhanced graphics and more features, the Star Trek Complete Series Blu-Ray Set is a must have for fans of the franchise, looking to increase their Star Trek DVD/Blu-Ray collection.

Star Trek: The Original Series is an 1984 science-fiction TV series, it is produced by Paramount Television, and distributed by CBS Television. It is currently available on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Growing up I was never much of a science fiction fan, it wasn’t until my mid-teens to early adult years that I grew up to appreciate the genre here and there. Star Trek slowly became one of the good ones out of the sci-fi films and TV shows I gave a chance. With a great cast, some decent action, and a bit of drama, Star Trek: The Original Series will be in the hearts of science fiction fans both old and new for decades to come.

THE GOOD: The new Blu-Ray set looks great with and without the enhanced graphics, so if fans prefer to watch the content without the graphical enhancements then there’d be virtually no issue in viewing pleasure. The special features including commentary and more are fun and a good time killer if you want a little break from the series itself, or just want to know some behind the scenes info out of genuine curiosity.

THE BAD: The limited number of episodes per disc is a tad annoying. Speaking of limited, it felt like they could have done a bit better with what was added to the interactive menu, but issues with disc space was likely a problem.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: Star Trek’s complete blu-ray set comes just in time for the release of the third film Star Trek: Beyond. With some great acting, action, and drama, as well as 9 hours of special features, this set is sure to make any Star Trek fan happy. Otaku Dome gives Star Trek: The Original Series Blu-Ray an 87 out of 100.
