Poker Night 2 brings in the jokes and fun of the original, but it’s not short on issues.

Poker Night 2 is a 2013 Poker Card game developed and published by TellTale Games. It is available on Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, PC via Steam, and iOS. It features characters from Borderlands, Evil Dead, Portal, Sam & Max, and The Venture Bros. It also gives players the option to unlock special in-game content for Borderlands 2 and Team Fortress 2.

THE GOOD: Poker Night 2 is full of fun gameplay with plenty of unlockables both in-game and cross-game. The game also has some funny jokes , but the great thing about the game is that even non-poker enthusiast can find it to be quite addictive. I know nothing about the rules of Poker, but even I was able to find myself logging many hours into the game. Despite the less than real characters featured in the game, it gives you the feeling that you are actually playing a real game of Poker.

THE BAD: The game features no liner storyline, it’s just you doing an endless marathon of Poker games until you’re lucky enough to come across a bounty unlock. Hell your player character’s in-game name is “The Player”. Jokes were also painfully repetitive, with certain jokes being locked to certain completed sets, it got really tedious playing at times.

THE UGLY: There were some game freezes that were unbearably bad, including some that froze the game completely. Also I don’t know if this was some in-game glitch or not, but Sam folded the most out of every character.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: Poker Night 2 while fun suffers from repetition. The game has some funny jokes, but unless you unlock complete sets they’re repetitive and tedious. It gives you the feeling of being at or in an actual poker game, but there’s no linear storyline. The cross-game unlockables are cool, but game freezes become a bit of a problem.
