Capcom recently showed off a new trailer featuring gameplay for upcoming horror game Resident Evil Village. The trailer has main character Ethan moving around a room and hiding from Lady Dimitrescu who’s on the phone. That trailer can be seen below:

Stealth at this stage is nothing new for the series, however what is new is the ability to hunt and kill animals. Doing allows the player to upgrade Ethan with unique stats as originally revealed by Game Informer. In the trailer the publication makes it a point to stress the importance of upgrades in ‘Village’ compared to past entries. As you hunt animals for their meat they will openly defend themselves. Meaning it will be important to weigh in the risks and rewards of doing so. If an animal gets the jump on you causing you to waste all your ammunition hunting it may not have been worth it.

The food will be prepared by a character known as The Duke. Who will be making unique recipes with different upgrade capabilities. Ethan will also be able to upgrade his weapons and other things with the game’s currency. Capcom is taking great strides to ensure that Resident Evil Village feels more than “just another entry”. Having followed the series for a long time the new direction and mechanic additions have impressed me thus far. I can only imagine what’s planned to be shown for today’s showcase event. Resident Evil Village releases for PC, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Google Stadia on May 7, 2021.
