During a showcase event for Resident Evil Village Capcom confirmed that the game would indeed be crossgen across Playstation 4, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Capcom had previously stated that they were unsure if the game could properly run on last-gen hardware, but would release the title on the consoles if they could get a working port going if even sometime following the original release of the PS5 & XSX/S versions. In addition to the crossgen the game’s release date was set for May 7, 2021 and would also come with a free multiplayer mode called Re:Verse in which four to six players face off in a death battle with different Resident Evil characters and locations. Also confirmed was free upgrading to the PS5 & XSX/S versions if the last gen versions were purchased. An exclusive Playstation 5 demo named The Maiden is currently available now.
