Airing back in Fall 2000 Inuyasha quickly raised in popularity both in Japan & overseas. The series was a staple of Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim anime block consistently gaining decent ratings for its slot. Unfortunately the initial anime series had to end due to it reaching the placement of the manga’s then current arc. This was later remedied with a 26 episode finale series “Inuyasha: The Final Act” which aired from October 2009 to March 2010. The second series would as its title suggest cover the final arcs of the series that never got animated 5 years prior. Here we are ten years later and people still want more Inuyasha in their lives and after rumors began circulating online we’re getting just that as Viz Media the American English language license holder of Inuyasha has since confirmed that the continuation now known as “Yashahime: Half-Demon Princess” will debut in Fall 2020. Like the previous series anime studio Sunrise will be producing what’s being described as a spinoff sequel and focuses on the daughters of Sessomaru, Inuyasha & Kagome. Series mangaka Rumiko Takahashi will aide Sunrise in development of the series when asked about the sequel she stated “The three heroines are beautifully designed. I am looking forward to their adventures.”, Viz Media CEO Brad Woods also commented saying “We couldn’t be more thrilled to announce the acquisition of Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon. The Inuyasha universe has been a true pinnacle when it comes to delighting fans of all generations and we’re seeing that now, two decades later, with original Inuyasha episodes streaming on Netflix and Hulu. We’re excited for fans to revisit this magical world created by the iconic Rumiko Takahashi.” As of this writing no new manga adaptation for the Inuyasha franchise has been announced. Viz Media will begin releasing the entire Inuyasha series on Blu-Ray beginning July 14, 2020 pre-orders are currently live. You can find first story details for the new series below:

Kagome! Inuyasha! Sesshomaru! The daughters of Sesshomaru and Inuyasha set out on a journey transcending time!

In Feudal Japan, Half-Demon twins Towa and Setsuna are separated from each other during a forest fire. While desperately searching for her younger sister, Towa wanders into a mysterious tunnel that sends her into present-day Japan, where she is found and raised by Kagome Higurashi’s brother, Sota, and his family.

Ten years later, the tunnel that connects the two eras has reopened, allowing Towa to be reunited with Setsuna, who is now a Demon Slayer working for Kohaku. But to Towa’s shock, Setsuna appears to have lost all memories of her older sister.

Joined by Moroha, the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, the three young women travel between the two eras on an adventure to regain their missing past.
