Although it was initially believed to be a translation error, the rumored return of the base Super Saiyan God transformation has been confirmed to be making it’s return in upcoming Dragon Ball Super episodes within the Tournament of Power arc. The news was previously revealed by a member of Dragon Ball Super’s anime staff, and has since been clarified as confirmed, by the staff member going by Toshio616 who was replying to a fan asking if it was a translation error:

The transformation hasn’t been seen in the Super anime since the Battle of Gods arc, however mangaka Toyotaro has used it frequently in the manga.
