In what may be a forever industry shaking move WarnerMedia & WB Pictures have announced that the entirety of their 2021 film slate will have limited same day releases on HBO Max as they launch in theaters. This comes after the announcement of the anticipated Wonder Woman 1984 receiving a similar treatment. Upcoming films such as Dune, Tom & Jerry, The Matrix 4,  a reboot of the Mortal Kombat film franchise and others will be apart the move. As this writing only planned 2021 films are confirmed so far, but given the reaction to WW84 this could be permanent moving forward with theaters’ existence continuously being questioned beyond 2020.
