Dynasty Warriors is back to tackling the Gundam franchise in Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn. Like any of the Dynasty Warriors titles, this game features a large map full of multiple enemies to take on including bosses as you tear your way to victory.

I’ve never really played the Dynasty Warriors titles except for the spin-offs based on the One Piece series. They were enjoyable enough to keep me playing until the end of the game, but I always thought that it was mostly due to me being a One Piece fan. However, after playing Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn, a Dynasty Warriors game based after another anime series I’m not all that fond of, I soon discovered that I just might be a complete Dynasty Warriors fan.

Gundam Reborn features a lot of story content, but there's a problem.

THE GOOD: One thing to appreciate about Gundam Reborn is that it’s story mode features multiple stories throughout the Gundam series. From the original series all the way down to Seed Destiny, these series are present in the story mode and their storylines serve as the main stories for their respective parts of the game. If you’re a major Dynasty Warriors fan, then not much has changed in terms of gameplay. It’s still the same combination of buttons and what not, and a transformation to supe you up even more.

Boss fights and more.

There aren’t very many modes in Gundam Reborn, but the different anime series within the Gundam franchise that the game covers, definitely makes up for this. Different Gundam Suits have different weapons, powers, and stats. And it’s still a hell of a lot of fun killing multiple enemies at once. Seeing such destruction with only an attack or two is always an incredible sight.

The story is unfortunately told through stills.

THE BAD: Unfortunately, there are no cut scenes the story is told through the use of stills and voice overs. While not all that bad, it would have been nice to seen actual cut scenes rather than stills and voice overs. There’s also no English dub for the game as well, something that’s a familiar habit in the Dynasty Warriors spin-off franchise.

Despite this being a Dynasty Warriors spin-off like most other Dynasty Warrior spin-off, Gundam Reborn manages to bring the fun.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: While a Dynasty Warriors spin-off at it’s finest, Gundam Reborn manages to provide players with one thing most of the spin-offs can’t. A ton of replay value, this is thanks to the many series in the Gundam franchise that Reborn manages to cover from the original to Seed S Destiny. It’s still a ton of fun killing multiple enemies with a small number of attacks, making the player feel like a powerful warrior. The vast amount of content for the Gundam suits is also a plus. The only major downers were the lack of cut scenes, a story being told via stills and voice overs is still quite annoying for modern gaming. Another thing is there’s no English dub, but that’s only bothersome if you’re not into English subbed anime I suppose.
