The anime, manga, and gaming industry all come together to mourn the passing of legendary mangaka Kazuki Takahashi best known for the creation of multimedia franchise Yu-Gi-Oh. Takahashi was seen in snorkeling gear upon his body being found in Nago, Okinawa. Japanese police have since stated that he was dead days prior to being found. The Japanese Coast Guard is currently under going an investigation into the incident.
Takahashi got his start as a mangaka in 1982 creating a series known as Fighting Hawk in the 90s. Yu-Gi-Oh would make it’s debut in 1996 following an anime and trading card game adaptation both of which becoming near instant hits globally. The series is still ongoing today under Konami. The latest anime sequel Yu-Gi-Oh Go Rush premiered this April.
