The WWE Network has officially launched much to the joy of WWE fans of old and new. How is WWE’s new Netflix like streaming service compared to previous services they’ve worked with?
The WWE Network is a 2014 streaming service playing the WWE’s entire library of professional wrestling content, including WWE/F, ECW, WCW, AWA, PPVs, and more. It is available on smartphones, tablets, PCs, and gaming consoles.
When you first started watching pro wrestling as a child did you ever think that one day you would be able to have damn near everything you’ve ever seen ready for you to watch at will for barely the cost of an average DVD? Neither did I, but the day has come and passed as the WWE Network has come to fruition. For the mere price of $9.99 a month, the WWE has provided many a generation of fans an option to view just about every match they’ve ever seen on demand alongside fresh, original & modern content to accompany it. And it has never been a ore beautiful time to be a wrestling fan.
THE GOOD: The first good thing about the WWE Network? The price obviously $9.99 is a bit of a godsend for all of the content that you have for your viewing pleasures thanks to the WWE’s extensive library collection from the past few decades. The interface is clean and easy to use no matter what platform you’re able to get on, which is great. And it’s quick to go between whatever content you have to go through in order to get to what you’re looking for. You’ll also be getting the PPVs which cost about $50 via TV for fraction of that with a /network subscription, and starting with WrestleMania XXX these PPVs will be available on the WWE Network live!
It’s not just PPVs and TV tapings that appear on the WWE Network. Original shows like Total Divas and Legends House will be making their way to the WWE Network at some point in time as well. More WWE content such as WrestleMania Countdown currently airs as we speak. The wide range of reach that is available for subscribers of the WWE Network helps it feel like a legitimate streaming powerhouse. WWE Films sch as 12 Rounds and fan favorite See No evil will be available for streaming at will down the road as well.
THE BAD: When the WWE Network goes down, it’s down for good. However this is launch so it couldn’t have been helped really. Anyone who thought things would instantly run smoothly are kidding themselves. The interface also takes a bit of getting used to to get things going. There was streaming issues such as lag as well.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: While the WWE Network is still obviously in the very early stages of launch, don’t think you won’t feel those early launch woes even if it’s just a single time. The amount of content offered by the WWE Network is every past and present WWE fan’s dream come true. The interface is clean, quick, and easy to use no matter what device you’re on, so you shouldn’t experience any annoyances from that aspect. Live content being aired on the WWE Network also gives it a big advantage, and the price just can’t be beat compared to other forms of distribution WWE is with. Otaku Dome gives the WWE Network an 87 out of 100.
