Square Enix today released a brand new Kingdom Hearts III trailer and it’s leaving some pretty terrible indications about what may be in store for Sora, Riku, Kairi, Donald, Goofy, Lee, and King Mickey as they prepare themselves for the final battle against Xehanort and the thirteen darknesses. The new trailer, which can be seen below shows off the new opening Face My Fears by Utada Hikaru & Skrillex as well as the ending theme Don’t Think Twice while showcasing brand new and previously seen story and gameplay scenes. A few scenes which stand out are those that may have featured our first look at Sora’s Nobody, Kairi wielding her keyblade, and in what may be a huge shock Donald Duck’s possible death. It’s all brought home with Sora screaming in agony:

Game Director Tetsuya Nomura previously stated that Kingdom Hearts III would be the darkest entry in the franchise to date and with recent trailers and footage shown off this claim seems to hold up.
