CBS and Paramount team up to bring classic drama action series The Untouchables home to a new generation. Originally airing beginning in 1959, The Untouchables is known for it’s great action scenes and drama at the time. Even today the series still holds up compared to more modern series within the genres represented.

Having grown up with parents who were fond of old western shows from decades ago and the like it wasn’t really all that hard for me to get into the 1959-1963 ‘The Untouchables’ TV series despite me being in my mid-20s. Featuring all one hundred-nineteen episodes and all four seasons on a set of thirty-one discs, The Untouchables Complete Series Set holds up fairly well for a series that ran about 50+ years ago. Starring the likes of Robert Stark, Able Fernandez, and other top actors from the time period, The Untouchables is an classic TV series that will likely attract both the new and old generations to a degree.

THE GOOD: The Untouchables follows its name shake as an untouchable classic series full of great writing, action, and drama focused on the gangster/mobster lifestyle with the Capone family acting as the main threat. Likely the inspiration of recent films and TV shows like Gangsta Squad, The Untouchables hold a special bond with directors and writers of the more modern age, and they’re noticeable throughout the viewing of the series. No matter if you’re in your late 60s or early to mid 20s The Untouchables is an crime drama series that will bring eyes to the screen no matter the age.

The Untouchables ace cast and writing can put it in competition with TV series of the same genre in today’s age.

THE BAD: DVD set is locked at 4:3 ration which is really more of a minor annoyance.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: Another classic series receives a well deserved complete series box set with The Untouchables: The Complete Series, featuring a great cast, solid writing, and excellent drama and action, the series could really teach modern crime series a thing or two about quality. Otaku Dome gives The Untouchables: The Complete Series a 95 out of 100.
