Otaku Dome continues it’s next-gen coverage for the week, this time taking a look at the top 10 upcoming Wii U exclusives from now towards the end of the coming year and beyond. Again the list is in no particular order.
NUMBER ONE: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA WII U
After a well received tech demo reveal at E3 2011, fans have been hammering Nintendo with an update on development status on the the next original Legend of Zelda title for Wii U. Though no info on the next Zelda installment will be revealed until e3 2014 a number of rumors have already begun, including a late 2014 release date and that the game’s world will be equal in scale to a Grand Theft Auto game.
NUMBER TWO: BAYONETTA 2
During a Nintendo Direct event late last year Nintendo shocked the world by announcing that it had acquired the rights to the Bayonetta franchise after years of rumors that the sequel had been cancelled by Sega. They would later announce the new title to be exclusive to the Wii U console. Bayoneta 2 will seemingly be a rail-shooter while also staying close to its’ hack n’ slash roots.
NUMBER THREE: SUPER SMASH BROS. U
First revealed at E3 2011, Super Smash Bros. U took a long three year wait to final come close to getting into the hands of the public. Continuing it’s trademark Smash Bros. gameplay style, the game will include new stages and characters from Nintendo franchises of old and new, with the inclusion of Megaman for the very first time. It releases sometime next year.
NUMBER FOUR: DONKEY KONG COUNTRY: TROPICAL FREEZE
Donkey Kong returns in Tropical Freeze for the Wii U, using traditional Donkey Kong Country gameplay players race across multiple levels defeating enemies and bosses as they progress through the new frozen terrain. Nintendo recently confirmed that Crazy Kong was playable.
NUMBER FIVE: MARIO KART 8
The fun of Mario Kart continues on the Wii U with the release of Mario Kart 8. With support of up to 12 players and confirmation of motorbikes, hangliders, and submarine type vehicles, Mario Kart 8 is shaping up to be a fun installment into the Nintedo racer.
NUMBER SIX: YARN YOSHI
Taking on the vein of similar gameplay to Kirby’s Epic Yarn (while being developed by the same team), Yarn Yoshi looks like quite the interesting Mario title. Not much is known about the game as of this writing.
NUMBER SEVEN: SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI X FIRE EMBLEM
Not much is known about this new cross-over title besides the fact that characters from both series will be featured and that it will be an RPG.
NUMBER EIGHT: THE NEXT SUPER MARIO
After receiving critical acclaim for Super Mario 3D World it’d be hard to imagine Nintendo hasn’t begun work on some sort of follow-up title for a 2014-2015 release.
NUMBER NINE: X
The next title from the Xenoblade developers; X. This Wii U exclusive involves travel via foot and mecha known as Dolls. The open-world and scale of the game has lead many to believe that this will have some kind of online functionality.
NUMBER TEN: DRAGON QUEST X
The next installment in the Dragon Quest franchise; Dragon Quest X will feature heavy emphasis on online gameplay. The title was just recently released in Japan.
