Season two of FX’s vampire horror series The Strain comes home to DVD and Blu-Ray. In season two, The Master’s army has grown faster than ever, and it’s up to Eph Goodweather, Setrakian, and the others to stop him. This time however, The Master is looking to target Goodweather’s son Zach, by using his estranged wife Kelly, whom’s turned.
The Strain is an 2013 vampire horror drama, adapted from the books of the same name, it is produced by FX Productions, and currently airs on FX. It is currently available on DVD & Blu-Ray.
Editor’s Note: This review contains some if not complete spoilers for The Strain season two.
Season two of The Strain got heavy in the vampire lore, and provided some much needed background on The Master, as well as expanding on the threat currently plaguing the country. New alliances and new enemies are quickly formed and made as the season progresses throughout it’s thirteen episode run.
THE GOOD: The Strain season two makes the vampires the stars of the show, which is fantastic as we hadn’t really received much information on the so called “virus/infection” in season one. Speaking of which a lot of unanswered questions from season one, including Quinlan and his vampire army, what The Master is, and other questions. The twist ending of season two; including the death of Nora and capture of Zach will have a great effect on the upcoming third season.
THE BAD: Season two while expanding on the vampires, still had a tad too much focus on the humans.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: The Strain season two has a lot of questions answered, but more questions asked. The vampires take spotlight with more background information on The Master and the “infection”, though the humans do tend to get more time than necessary, at least in my opinion. Otaku Dome gives The Strain Season Two Blu-Ray an 89 out of 100.
