It’s been six years since Adult Swim’s The Boondocks graced the small screen with it’s surreal comedy about an African-American family living in a suburban area. The Freemans; elderly Robert, and 10 & 8 year old Huey and Riley respectively dealt with oddities & characters such as the self-hating & delusional Uncle Ruckus, good intentioned, but oblivious Tom Dubois that shaped the world around them are back for another go. Sony Animation & series creator Aaron McGruder announced that a reboot of the series was in development for a 2020 release. The announcement was made at the 2019 Annecy event as of this writing John Witherspoon voice of Robert Freeman is the only confirmed returning cast member. Though given the released plot details for the reboot one could assume that Gary Anthony Williams voice of Uncle Ruckus could be returning as well. The plot for the reboot of The Boondocks is as follows per Sony Animation:
Once aired on Adult Swim, “The Boondocks” chronicles the battles of the Freeman family against the evil local government tyrant Uncle Ruckus, who rules fictional Woodcrest County Maryland, with an iron fist
