The struggles of young adulthood and emerging sexualities are all on poignant display in the highly anticipated coming-of-age yuri manga SWEET BLUE FLOWERS! Volume 1 arrives in stores at favorite retailers everywhere on September 19th, and a digital edition will also be available the same day from partner storefronts.
Creator Takako Shimura is widely known for her stories focusing on LGBTQ topics. Her previous work published in English was the Eisner-nominated Wandering Son, which was also featured on the 2012 YALSA Great Graphic Novels for Teens list. In SWEET BLUE FLOWERS, she takes a sophisticated and graceful approach to teenage love & friendship of a group of girls starting high school. Akira Okudaira is ready for exciting new experiences, and on the first day of school, she runs into her best friend Fumi from kindergarten at the train station! Now Akira and Fumi have the chance to rekindle their friendship, but life has gotten a lot more complicated since they were kids.
