Nintendo has shared news that Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo 3DS has sold more than 2.8 million units worldwide. This is no doubt a good showing for the debut of the Super Smash Bros. series on a handheld, and is also a good sign that Super Smash Bros. is still a very much beloved series by Nintendo fans. In order to keep the Smash train going, Nintendo has also finally announced when fans can play Super Smash Bros. For Wii U.
The Wii U version of the latest Super Smash Bros. will launch on November 21. Alongside it, the first set of Amiibo figures will also be available for purchase. The Amiibo figures will be compatible with Super Smash Bros. For Wii U, but will also have uses in already released titles like Mario Kart 8. Future titles as well, like Mario Party 10 and Yoshi’s Wooly World. The first wave of figures will include Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Link, Fox, Samus, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Pikachu, Kirby and Marth. The second wave that launches in December includes Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Little Mac, Pit and Captain Falcon.
For those who want to play Super Smash Bros. for Wii U with their favorite Nintendo GameCube controller, Nintendo is also introducing an adapter that will allow up to four original Nintendo GameCube (and WaveBird) controllers to work with the game. The adapter will be available at the price of $19.99. A standalone Nintendo GameCube controller emblazoned with the iconic Super Smash Bros. insignia will also be available for purchase at $29.99. For those who want it all, a special bundle that includes Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, one Nintendo GameCube controller and one adapter will cost you $99.99. All of these items launch Nov. 21.
Along with all this Smash related news, another highly anticipated Wii U title got a release date announced. Captain Toad: Treasure Trackers will release on December 5 for the Wii U. The game will also feature Amiibo support in the future in 2015.
