Originally revealed back in 2020 we heard very little about the second film reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film franchise. Outside of Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg taking over the third film run of the group and it would also be the second attempt at a CGI film following 2007’s TMNT. In addition, word got out that there were plans for solo film projects based on TMNT villains set to stream exclusively on Paramount+. We now know the name and planned theatrical release date for the first film which is titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and currently set for an August 4, 2023 release. Rogen & Goldberg’s Point Grey Pictures along with Nickelodeon Animation Studios will produce.
The film is produced by Jeff Rowe with a screenplay written by Brendan O’Brien. It was also recently revealed that Cinesite & Mikros Image will animate the film. And for the first time in franchise history the titular characters will be voiced by teenage voice actors which Rogen stated was for “a feeling of authenticity”. No casting has been announced as of this writing.
