Saitek and Madcatz team up to bring the world a peripheral controller dedicated to Farming Simulator 15, or more specifically Farming Simulator 15 Gold Edition (as advertised). This $300 hardware looks to make playing Farming Simulator with ease, despite it’s crazy amount of controls, and it definitely succeeds in thus thanks to the control pad. Full of multiple buttons equal in number to the game it’s meant to be played with, the precision controller does a hell of a job making the game fun and easy, for PC players that is.
The Saitek Precision Controller is an 2015 PC gaming controller, it is produced by Saitek & Madcatz and is currently only usable on PC platforms.
When one thinks “dedicated gaming controller”, one of the last games you’d expect advertisements to be attached to is Farming Simulator 15. The much beloved farming sim by Focus Home Interactive has a huge fan base, but one large enough to warrant a gaming controller focused with it in mind? Apparently so.
THE GOOD: First let’s talk about the wheel, I like that it was fashioned after an actual tractor steering wheel. After doing some research, it turns out a number of tractors have the nob featured on the Saitek wheel. The pedals were easy to use and felt real. The control pad however, is what gamers will be looking at with glee. With a number of controls and a joystick, it makes gaming on your PC a lot easier. Thankfully, no part of the controller is locked to Farming Simulator 15, so it can be used with a number of other PC titles.
THE BAD: The Farming Simulator 15 controller has a good feel when in use, but you can’t help but notice the parts where they skimmed cost with the plastic. It’s also a bummer that it’s as of now PC exclusive, but it’s still possible for the controller to be patched to console, or for Saitek to even release a console variation.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Madcatz’s new Farming Simulator 15 precision controller does it’s job of simulating the farming experience with a game. The wheel looks like an authentic tractor wheel, and the nob works well. The pedals felt light and easy to use, and the controller pad kills it. If you already own a wheel for your PC, I’d highly recommend getting the controller pad by itself if you could. The only downer is the cheap plastic in some areas and the current PC exclusivity. Otaku Dome gives the Farming Simulator 15 Precision Controller an 80 out of 100.
