Zirconia has made his debuted in the Sailor Moon anime.

Containing the first nineteen episodes of Sailor Moon SuperS/Sailor Moon Season 4, this set covers the Dead Moon Circus arc featuring the villainous Zirconia. Zirconia uses the beautiful dreams of people in an attempt to draw out Pegasus, who in dire need of help to defeat him. Meanwhile, Sailor Moon and the Moon Guardians have lost their ability to transform as a new enemy and her Amazon Trio have appeared on the scene.

Zirconia and his Amazoness.

THE GOOD: Sailor Moon SuperS is off to a good start with the threat of Zirconia and his Amazoness Quartet being established nearly from the start of the season with the introduction of Pegasus. Pegasus possesses the unique ability to transform the Moon Guardians into their Super Sailor forms and it helps them defeat the powerful subordinates of the Dead Moon Circus. As the story goes on we learn that Pegasus and Sailor Chibi Moon may have a connection that will unlock Pegasus’ full power to aide the Moon Guardians in defeating the Dead Moon Circus once and for all.  Fans will be happy to know that a lot of dubbing mistakes such as Usagi’s name have been corrected in this set, and audio quality has been upgraded.

New threats shake things up for Sailor Moon and the Moon Guardians.

THE BAD: The video quality could be a bit higher, but this is a revamped anime from the early 90s on a new video format so it can be forgiven given the circumstances.

Sailor Moon SuperS Set 1 is a solid opener into the fourth season.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: We get a fairly solid first nineteen episodes for season four of Sailor Moon. The new threats are already getting some decent build here and the introduction into to Pegasus is pretty cool. The dubbing mistakes being fixed and audio receiving an upgrade are nice touches. Otaku Dome gives Sailor Moon Super S Set 1 an 80 out of 100.
