The Witcher 2 finally hit consoles as an “Enhanced Edition”, but is it worth making the jump? Find out in our review.
The Witcher 2 is an 2011 Action-RPG game developed and published by CD Projekt Red and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It is available on PC and Xbox 360.
Reviewer Note: This was our first Open-World review title, so it was kind of tough getting a review out with so much content and what not. Full of side quest galore and other things to hold your interest, you won’t really find yourself bored in this game.
THE GOOD: The Witcher 2 tells the story of Geralt, a Witcher who serves under the King, but was betrayed and accused of murdering the aforementioned king by another Witcher. One of the first things you’ll notice about The Witcher 2 is Geralt’s story. It’s a rather interesting one about how he came to lose his memories and begins searching for them all while attempting to stop the second Witcher who killed the King in order to restore his good name.
Elves attempting an ambush on Geralt and company.
Gameplay is pretty basic, you’ll spend most of your time hacking and slashing away at your enemies, while also using a few spells here and there for extra damage. The world is huge with plenty of side quest among other things to keep you occupied should you get tired of the main story.
Geralt surrounded by soldiers.
THE BAD: Combat gets a little too easy at times, half of the time you won’t even find yourself blocking or using the spells. Difficulty spikes from easy to hard a lot of times as well, which gets quite annoying.
The King and Roche.
THE UGLY: The map gets extremely confusing from time to time, and you will get lost/frustrated because of it .
King Hansalt and his soldiers.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: The Witcher 2 is a fun, vast game full of content to keep you going, but combat gets too easy at times, and there’s also difficulty spikes that are rather annoying. The basic gameplay gets things easy for new players, however the confusing map brings frustration.
