Clementine is back and reunited with A.J. in the final installment The Walking Dead focusing on her long journey. From being the child to now becoming the parent, Clem must raise the now pre-teen A.J. and teach him the ideals of right or wrong as they struggle to survive the cold world of The Walking Dead together.

The Walking Dead: Final Season is a 2018 episodic click and point adventure game, it is developed and published by Telltale Games, and is currently available on PC, console, and mobile devices.

Nearing her early years of adulthood, Clementine gives it her all to ensure A.J.’s survival in a harsh and horrifying world.

Clementine who survived an extremely rough and terrifying childhood is now entering her adult life, and with it comes an early step into parenthood. After searching for A.J once he was taken from her in “A New Frontier”, she reunites with him and passes on the knowledge of surviving a harsh and cold world which in turn was passed on from her by Lee and many others over the years. Clem uses her own judgement in addition to what she was taught to keep A.J. on the straightened path to grow and remain human in a world full of the walking dead, unfortunately for Clementine, A.J. has his own version of the ideals taught to him by Clem.

THE GOOD: The Walking Dead’s Final Season once again puts us into the control of Clementine, the only mainstay character from the first season released back in 2012. Clementine is about 17-18 years old now and has experienced a lot in a short amount of time & has meet very similar and very different people throughout her years. Now she has a child to take care of birthed by one of said people and A.J. is the only thing Clem can currently refer to as family. Acting as his surrogate mother, Clem uses her vast knowledge to teach A.J. not only how to survive, but how to live within their current world environment including the fact that living people are just as dangerous as the walking dead.

The branching of choices from previous seasons works a bit better here compared to years past. There’s even an opening scenario where you get to recall what decisions were made from seasons 1-3 and just how much they effected her growth as a human being. When I was using the story builder online and recalled what decisions I made, my Clementine was “brutal” for example. These choices may also effect A.J.’s character growth and personality if you aren’t careful with how you choose to interact with him. This season has just started and I can already tell that it’s going to be insanely dark, even more so than any other past seasons.

THE BAD: It leaves you begging for more.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: Telltale’s The Walking Dead makes a welcomed comeback with an all new season and the last go round as player character Clementine. With new takes and even darker twists and turns than before the so-called “final season” is already shaping up to be one, if not the greatest season available and I can’t wait to see how everything comes to a close (expecting a heart breaker).
