Strike Suit Zero returns in the format of a Director’s Cut edition, alongside a port on the Playstation 4 and Xbox one, how does this new version play this time around?
Strike Suit Zero: Director’s Cut is a 2014 mech game developed and published by Born Ready Games. It is available on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
I’m not the biggest mech guy out there, but every once and awhile I’ll get the taste if the game peaks my interest. Strike Suit Zero just so happened to be one of those games, the beautiful backgrounds, and interesting controls got me interested in this mech shooter, and my interest wasn’t exactly dissatisfied.
THE GOOD: The backgrounds and what not of Strike Suit Zero are absolutely stunning, especially on Playstation 4. It’s amazing what Born Ready was able to accomplish with a mere $100k budget from Kickstarter. The Xed engine should definitely be utilized by more indy devs, unless of course it’s owned/developed by Born Ready. Another thing I liked about Strike Suit Zero is that the fighter mode never felt over powered, you’d have to actually learn how to control it, and there was a limit on how long you could be in fighter mode .
The limitations on fight mode (or Strike mode?) had Strike Suit feel balanced, there’s a certain level of difficulty in there as well. When you get to a certain point of the game you’ll also be able to craft and upgrade your Strike Suit.
THE BAD: There were some levels of the game that didn’t always feel balanced, and some levels felt all over the place due to the need to learn how to control the Strike Suit. This was pretty annoying, due to how often it occurred.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Strike Suit Zero is an absolutely amazing effort with an $100,000 budget, Beautiful visuals and an actual need for practice gives this mech shooter an actual fun factor. The Strike Suit mode not being over powered like in other mech games gives it an extra plus, however sometimes levels would feel all over the place if you didn’t learn how to control the Strike Suit quickly. Difficulty felt balanced though, so it provided challenge here and there.
