After the successful release of the initial Legacy Collection, Capcom (and Mega Man) is back for more in Mega Man Legacy Collection 2. Featuring Mega Man 7-10, this $20 collection will have you enjoying the thought of pulling your hair out due to it’s insane levels of fun and even more insane level of difficulty.
Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 is the second compilation of the classic side-scrolling platform game Mega Man, it is developed & published by Capcom.
Known for it’s intense difficulty (before Dark Souls became a thing), Capcom’s Mega Man series was regarded as one of the best side-scrollers of its time. With multiple directions and nonlinear exploration to complete levels, tough enemies at every corner, and being forced to use the environment around you, the series’ original first ten entries will remain in the hearts of gamers for years to come.
Editor’s Note: Review done by first time player of the classic Mega Man titles.
THE GOOD: Continuing from the first ‘Legacy Collection, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 packs in Mega Man 7,8, 9, and 10 into a single disc (or download). With slightly updated sprites and arcade cabinet like borders Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 mixes a classic look & feel with that of more modern times. Often times you’ll find yourself using quick wits and the environment of the game to move forward and progress, but the environment oddly enough is probably your biggest in-game enemy if you don’t perfectly time a jump or land.
THE BAD: Due to the high level of difficulty the original side-scroller Mega Man titles won’t be for everyone. Even the stupidest of mistakes can cost you your lives in a matter of moments.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: While not as fresh a welcome as the first Legacy Collection, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 still provides a solid collection of the classic platformer to both old and new fans of the series.
