Football season is back on consoles, but has the NFL simulator ran it’s course, is it in need of an overhaul, or is it better than ever? Find out in our review below.
Madden NFL 25 is a 2013 Football Simulator game, it is developed and published by EA Tiburon and EA Sports. It is available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, iOS, Android, and soon PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Back up off me, bro.
Editor’s Note: I’m not much of a Football fan, so you can imagine how awkward writing this review felt, but from a games journalist’ s perspective I enjoyed playing Madden 25 as merely nothing more than another game. So if you feel there was bias in this review allow me to apologize in advanced.
THE GOOD: Madden 25 does one thing right, making you feel like you’re at a live NFL game. The atmosphere and realism from the start of a game to the finish of it felt incredible. Graphically the game has improved quite a bit from past NFL games I’ve seen. Like always for rookie or seasoned players John Madden can help you pick a play against your opponent if you’re not sure what move to make next.
Pardon me.
Online Community involvement was strong with players having the option to download the playbooks, rosters and more creations of other players. In franchise mode you could play as an owner, player or coach as you raised either your set or customized team in theĀ NFL ranks in an attempt to make it to the Hall of Fame class.
Quarterback snap!
As a Player you could choose your team, earn XP and upgrade a skill, and compare them to other players. As a Coach you could sign, trade, and draft players, control both offense and defense, and like a Player earn XP and upgrade, while also progressing and developing your player’s skills. As an Owner you could rebuild and relocate your stadium. Set prices for everything you sell, receive feedback from your advisors, and manage and control your team.
Watch out now!
Players had the option of playing Franchise off or online, while of course also playing a regular game on or offline. You could also watch NFL footage if you signed in to your PSN or Xbox Live, I don’t know how relevant that is to someone who is a fan of Madden games, but I felt it couldn’t hurt to mention it.
He slipped.
Gameplay was fun for what it is; another NFL game, but even if you’re not totally interested in Madden or Football at all for that matter, you can have fun with a few short games by yourself, or a handful with a few friends who are fans of the sport.
Someone’s happy.
THE BAD: As a rookie Madden player I felt the CPU was a bit over powering, this however is most likely due to lack of knowledge when it comes to picking plays. The pre game and in game footage may get in the way of someone who just wants to play the game without worrying about wanting it to feel like he’s really at a stadium event.
Tag team!
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Madden 25 is a fun game for both seasoned and rookie players looking to get into the sport or just Madden. There’s plenty of content to keep you busy and great community and online options, so even the lowest level of NFL fans or non-fans can at least have fun with one thing or another. I felt the CPU was a bit over powered, but more likely than not it was probably my fault as to why (i.e: I suck at Sports games).
