The ‘Definitive Edition’ of popular Hitman mobile game, Hitman Go, hits PC, Playstation 4, and Playstation Vita. After an successful stint on mobile devices, Hitman Go makes what feels like a flawless transition to other devices, which is great for players who couldn’t previously play it on their phones. And the puzzle game feels pretty damn good on a console to be a mobile port.
Hitman Go: Definitive Edition is the 2016 console and PC port of the mobile game Hitman Go. It is developed and published by Square Enix, and is currently available on PC, Playstation 4, and Playstation Vita.
When one thinks Hitman you usually think of the AAA stealth shooter that allows you to chop off your enemies in often humorous ways. However, when you take a look at Hitman Go, you can understand longtime Hitman fans being wary. It’s an puzzle spinoff which uses (to certain limitations), aspects of the Hitman franchise such stealth and (sometimes) optional murder, on what’s essentially an Chess board, minus the actual rules of Chess. Personal opinions on this aside, Hitman Go is a fun spinoff and works great on console.

THE GOOD: Hitman Go: Definitive Edition looks great on Playstation 4, and feels like a genuine port to a new device. The puzzles are fun, difficult, and actually make you use your brain to move forward, something that’s also apart of the original Hitman series. Levels can be relatively quick if you know how to work the current map, but you could be on the same level for quite some time if you have no idea what the movements of the levels are. There’s an “hints” option, but you risk losing a trophy grab if you chose to use it even once.
THE BAD: Hitman Go takes pride in the fact that it’s a puzzle game, so much so that a single level can keep you stuck for quite some time if you don’t know the proper movements per level. The difficult is also further increased as the players move on, so this happens quite frequently if you’re not careful.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Hitman Go: Definitive Edition is a fun puzzle spinoff from the Hitman franchise. Forcing players to use their brains as they move Agent 47 across the chess like game board, keeps the game feeling fresh and challenging. At times the game can be too challenging, which brings the in-game hints into play, however trophy hunters will lose access to one which is crucial to hint usage.
