Using a special Mexican wrestling mask, Juan fights his way through evil skeletons and more in order to save El Presidente’s daughter from being a sacrifice.

Guacamelee is a fun platforming game that puts you into the role of Juan, a young man who gains magical power from a legendary Mexican wrestling mask. He must use his new found strength to save El Presidente’s daughter from becoming a sacrifice to the evil Carlos Calaca or he will gain control of both the living and dead worlds.

THE GOOD: Guacamelee is a classic side scrolling platformer that goes deep into Mexican culture from pro wrestling to day of the dead. The Mexican culture is well represented here, even the creature designs look like they came out of a twisted version of Mexico. Gameplay is your standard action platformer, defeating what enemies are blocking your path as you move forward. Along the way you pick up new powers and moves as Juan progresses through the world.

THE BAD: Guacamelee is incredibly short, which is perhaps the game’s only major flaw. You can beat it in a matter of hours, which sucks and there isn’t much replay value.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition is a fun action platforming game that uses a great deal of Mexican culture for it’s world. Gameplay had the usual action platforming blitz with it’s own spin, but it’s incredibly short with the main story only take about seven or so hours to complete.
