Grid has made it’s return to consoles in Grid Autosport, but while fun, it’s difficult driving makes it hard to enjoy at times.
Grid Autosport is a 2014 F1 racing game, it is developed and published by Codemasters. It is available on PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.
Grid Autosport is a fun, but difficult to master racing game, the amount of cars, tracks, and locations is great, but may not be enough to satisfy those who have a difficult time with the controls of the game. It’ll take some serious practice to get good enough to actually win races, especially if you’ve never played any of Codemasters’ racers from the past.
THE GOOD: Grid Autosport features a number of tracks and cars, including different car types such as touring and open wheel. The vast amount of cars is enough to make any F1 racing fan happy, as far as playing a video game on the subject goes. There’s 22 real-life locations featured on the game as well. And there’s over 100 routes to take within these locations, thus making Autosport a fairly large racing game.
THE BAD: It’s too damn hard! That’s probably biggest complaint, as someone who’s never played any of the Grid titles, I shouldn’t have to struggle too hard with my first attempt. Luckily there’s a rewind button for crashes and the like. By pressing triangle players can eliminate their mistakes by rewinding to a certain point in the race, while this feature will definitely help rookie players, it’s not enough to overcome the game’s overall difficulty in the long run.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Grid Autosport is a fun racer that Codemasters put a lot of work into, and it shows in the final product. However, the crushing difficulty rookie players will face may make even the strongest of gamers succumb to it’s horrors. Still, the amount of content between cars and locations is enough to make plenty of F1 fans happy with Codemasters’ latest title.
