If you’re into tons of destruction and kaju battles, then Godzilla is for you. While not the best brawler out there, it’s decent gameplay, and moderate sized roster should fulfill the satisfaction of hardcore fans of the franchise. The story itself admittedly is nothing special, however the gameplay is fun enough to keep any Godzilla fan entertained for a few hours.
THE GOOD: Perhaps one of the most appealing aspects of Godzilla is the roster. It features a ton of Godzilla characters both old and new, there’s even different versions of Godzilla to play as. The heavily destructible environments also brings a good feel of the movies.
THE BAD: The movement controls are somewhat clunky, maybe it was intended to add a more realistic feeling that you were indeed controlling a kaju, but it didn’t exactly work that way. The story isn’t anything a Godzilla fan should suspect it to be, and it used stills and voice-overs to explain it.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Godzilla is a fair entry into the franchise’s video games, but hard controls and an ok-ish story hold it back from being something truly special. The roster and overall gameplay however, is enough to satisfy Godzilla hardcores.
