The latest entry in Microsoft’s flagship racer hits the racing track in Forza Motorsport 7. Featuring both new and returning tracks and cars, the new title looks to bring out the best the Xbox One and upcoming Xbox One X consoles have to offer, and as far as the original Xbox One & Xbox One S are concerned it succeeds with flying colors.
Forza Motorsport 7 is a 2017 racing game, it is developed by Turn 10 Studios and published by Microsoft Studios, it is available on Windows 10 PC and the Xbox One console family.
Editor’s Note: An Xbox One and Windows 10 PC review copy for Forza Motorsport 7 was provided by Microsoft Studios.
As Microsoft prepares for what can only be assumed as the final incarnation of the Xbox One, in-house Microsoft dev Turn 10 has worked closely with the publisher to bring out the Xbox One X’s true power in one of the first releases to experience it in Forza Motorsport 7. Whether it’s on the base Xbox One, the 4K capable Xbox One, or the maxed out Xbox One X, Forza 7’s gorgeousness will be explored in all it’s glory.
THE GOOD: Upon booting the game up regardless of which console you play on (PC goes without saying), it looks absolutely gorgeous. Even the most hardcore of racing fans will take a few moments to marvel in it’s grand graphic design ad the power of Turn 10’s ForzaTech engine. The new (to Motorsport) dynamic weather effect brings a fresh feeling of thrills, excitement, and at times overwhelming threat when active during a competitive race, and you can also customize your drive if you wish. With each race you gain XP to collect cars, in game currency and other perks. to aide you in honing your craft as a player.
THE BAD: The lootboxes tend to be a tad ridiculous, but they’re best to be ignored. The VIP add on also felt fairly disappointing, essentially becoming useless due to being on a time limit, however Microsoft has promised to fix this with providing new perks for it.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Forza Motorsport 7 is a prime example as to why it’s one of Microsoft’s staple franchises. The dynamic weather effect finally getting added to the Motorsport franchise line makes for a totally new experience with the series and the graphics bring out the best of the Xbox One regardless of which version you’re playing it on.
