Paradox released it’s 4th installment bearing the same name, Europa Universalis a few weeks ago, Having finally been through the whole thing I’m here now to tell you the good, Bad, and the ugly. The game won’t be for everyone, But for diehard strategy empire building fans, Here you guys go.
The good: You get a great deal of depth within this game, Varying from military campaigns, Trading, Alliances, Just about anything A strategy fiend like myself could ever ask for. The graphics are really nice, Most of the time though you’ll just be overlooking europe expanding to the middle east. The interface has been altered from previous ones just enough so even people who are relatively new to the strategy genre wont have as much of a hard time enjoying this title, Thanks paradox! They also have some pretty fun sea battles, Protect your trade routes or suffer the consequences.
The bad: A few things that did bug me, I am pretty new to the series myself. Having played crusader kings another game much like this one, failing pretty miserably at it might I add. The game has a pretty steep learning curve, But as long as you can push through the tutorials you shouldnt have to much of a problem figuring it all out.
The ugly: Nothing was really HORRIBLY wrong with the game, Nothing worth putting in the ugly at least.
Overall the games great for long time fans and even some newer fans if they can get through the fairly simply tutorials. There is so much to this game that it will take alot of your time up and you honestly won’t mind, I sure didn’t. Great game, Keep up the great work Paradox.
