After a decade since the last entry, Digimon Rumble is back. Though it features a rather limited roster, the overall core gameplay will bring back memories of a fighter that was lost in time.
Digimon All-Star Rumble is an 2014 fighting game, it is developed by Prope and published by Bandai Namco. It is available on Playstation 3 & Xbox 360.
If you enjoyed the previous Rumble Arena titles then you’ll be a fan of All-Star Rumble due to fond memories alone, but decent gameplay makes Digimon All-Star Rumble a fairly solid fighting game. Looking to take on the part genre, All-Star Rumble gives you the option of doing a four player battle royal frenzy.
THE GOOD: Digimon All-Star Rumble is a fun fighter with tons of ways to decimate your opponent. There’s a few modes included in the game, including a story mode to hold your interest. The Digivolution is back turning your Digimon into their Mega Evolution forms, and makes for a huge boost in a fight. The music used in game is pretty fun and reminds you of acardish games, which is the feeling Prope was seemingly going for.
THE BAD: Some of the voice acting for iconic characters such as Agumon sounded off, and the story mode isn’t exactly the best out there. Some characters also felt a bit outbalanced in compared to others. And the limited roster of playable characters is rather disappointing.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Digimon All-Star Rumble is a fun fighter for what it is, and Digimon fans who enjoyed the original series. However, an uninspired story mode, unbalanced characters, and a limited roster leaves a lot to be desired. However the overall presentation of the gameplay makes up for the errors featured.
