Is Activision’s attempt at the first Deadpool game a good one? Check out our review below:
Deadpool is a 2013 video game based on the Marvel comic book character of the same name. It is developed by High Moon Studios and published by Activision. The game is available for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
THE GOOD: Deadpool while not perfect definitely has its moments. For one thing voice acting great Nolan North provides the voice of the character. The music was seemingly fitting for the character, and all of the jokes that made the comics memorable is there (boob jokes galore!). You can upgrade Deadpool with skill points you either find or gain after every enemy or boss defeated. And there’s a ton of weapons to choose from.

Combos were fun to use, and the game was actually pretty funny. Considering I know very little about Deadpool, this might be a good thing for people who are on the fence about picking it up. There were upgrades a plenty ranging from increase in ammunition, to more powerful combos.

A number of characters throughout the X-Men Universe make cameos such as Wolverine and Rogue. Stealth finishers were fun to pull off when the stealth worked. There’s also challenge mode that unlocks more levels as you progress through the campaign.

THE BAD: While fun things did get quite repetitive pretty quickly. After only a few hours of gameplay you pretty much have heard almost every joke during gameplay except for those locked to a certain level. Gameplay got a bit repetitive as well, and the lack of variation between enemies was quite annoying. Speaking of annoying there was also random difficulty spikes which made story progression a pain to get through at times. It would have also been nice if you could go back and fourth between a mission and Deadpool’s apartment.

THE UGLY: Levels were very repetitive it felt like you were in the same area throughout most of the game.
The Marauders.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: High Moon and Activision’s first attempt into the Deadpool video game franchise is a nice try, but the game suffers from some problems. Repetitive gameplay and level design gets in the way at times, there’s also some difficulty spikes that take away from the game’s fun factor, but for what it is Deadpool’s attachment to the source material is enough to keep a die hard fan of the character happy, and that’s all that should really matter.
