According to a character designer for Injustice & MKX named Marco Nelor, fan favorite DC Hero Static was originally scheduled for the final roster of Injustice 2, but ended up being nixed at the last minute. Character design got as far as completed concept art with Nelor stating the character was "all ready to go".
