PowerA has a new controller out looking to compete with Microsoft’s OEM Xbox One Elite Controller. The newly released Fusion Controller looks to give players the same comfort at an affordable & competitive price. While some may laugh at PowerA’s efforts the Fusion actually does its job well .
Looking to take aim at the hardcore, PowerA’s Fusion Xbox One Controller features heavy customization & pro gamer buttons to increase the experience pf every Xbox One owner. While wired, it gives players a fair bit of range that could satisfy even the heaviest of wired controller critics. After an initial test run with Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae, I can say my experience with the Fusion is satisfactory.
THE GOOD: The PowerA Fusion does exactly what it wants, act as a well designed cheaper, though admittedly limited alternative to Microsoft’s Elite controller. Unless you’re controller/peripheral savvy you’ll never notice how different the controller makes the gaming experience unless you actually make a note of doing so. Having some fun with the trigger locks, I instantly noticed the difference in response time between button pressing and command response. I didn’t exactly find a use for the pro buttons in Episode Duscae.
THE BAD: It’s wired so some people annoyed by wired controllers likely won’t get over it enough to cave. There’s also the thing about traditional start and select buttons for the oneguide & view buttons. This is more of an annoyance rather than anything else.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: It’s a job well done for PowerA’s Fusion Xbox One controller. There’s a few downers such as the wire and traditional start and select buttons, but these are easily looked past after a few hours or so of use. The trigger locks, response time, and comfortable design makes for one hell of an alternative. Otaku Dome gives the PowerA Fusion Controller an 90 out of 100.
