Noragami season two comes home to DVD and Blu-Ray in North America, in the second season of the anime adapted from 2014’s 14th best selling manga, minor god and main character Yato is a low level entity with no followers nor a shrine to idolize him. In an effort to gain a bit of fame he charges five yen to living beings in order to have a wish granted so he can save up for one. He eventually encounters a human named Hiyori Iki who frequently experiences out of body episodes, as well as a wandering spirit named Yukine whom he adopts as his weapon known as the Regalia. The three work together to grant Yato fame as well as to destroy the evil phantoms.
Noragmi is an 2014 supernatural shounen anime series, it is produced by Bones, and licensed by Funimation. It is currently available on DVD and Blu-Ray in English.
Yato is a god looking to make a name for himself in his world, with no followers and no shrine for him to be idolized this of course is a near impossible task. That is until he meets Hiyori Iki and Yukine two people who become very influential in his quest for popularity.
THE GOOD: Trademark Bones animation and art direction steals the show for Noragami season two. While at times the show can often feel random, for how much the plot is served it can be quite enjoyable and there’s even some funny moments throughout.
THE BAD: While season one has a bit more plot with a real end game, season two sort of feels more nonlinear in comparison. Granted, there is an end game plot, but it didn’t feel as impactful as season one’s.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: While lacking in ways that made season one memorable, season two of Noragami is still a funny, very pretty series, albeit the less linear feeling direction kind of takes away from the series. Otaku Dome gives Noragami Season Two on Blu-Ray a 80 out of 100.
