Nintendo has released a new trailer regarding the Super Smash Bros. Invitational Tournament at E3 2014, that fully details the competitors and rules. The video also shared details on the commentators and host, as well as who the playable characters will be. The final details shared is that the tournament will be played with Gamecube controllers, thanks to the reveal of a Gamecube Controller Adapter.
You can view the trailer below for the full details on the event.
Not much else was shared on the adapter, since the video mainly focuses on the tournament, but longtime fans of the Super Smash Bros. games should be very pleased with this announcement. No price or release date was announced, but we can assume it will be alongside the release of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U this coming Winter and the possibility of a special bundle with the game and adapter won’t be too surprising. The adapter will have four Gamecube controller ports on it and will connect to the Wii U via two USB ports. The image of the adapter also shows off a Super Smash Bros. branded Gamecube Controller. No official announcement on that, but it would be safe to assume that Nintendo will be looking to start re-selling new Gamecube controllers once Super Smash Bros. on Wii U gets released.
