Nichijou: My Ordinary Life is an 2011 slice of life comedy series, it is produced by Kyoto Animation, and licensed by Funimation, it is available on DVD and Blu-Ray in English sub.
Nichijou or My Ordinary Life as its known in North America follows an large array of characters, with most focus going to seemingly main characters Yuko, Mio, Mai, and Nano as they deal with both ordinary life as well as random and outlandish events that occur within what is led to be believed as normal.
THE GOOD: If you’re into cutesy, innocent fun then Nichijou will definitely be for you. The art direction from Kyoto Animation is tailor made for comedic shenanigans seen throughout the twenty-six episode run. The cast and their voice talent actually seem to be having fun playing their roles and it comes off as a genuine performance during viewership.
THE BAD: The randomized story interruption can often get in the way of the core plot, as entertaining as it can be. In fact it often makes getting enthused and excited about seeing the story close very, very hard, so Nichijou will definitely be a “love, hate” series for some viewers.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Hit or miss will be the general consensus for most viewers of Nichijou: My Ordinary Life, however for those who are true slice of life fans, they’ll find an insanely entertaining and beautifully animated comedy that could hold a special place in their hearts. Otaku Dome gives Nichijou: My Ordinary Life Complete Series Blu-Ray a 70 out of 100.
