As Naruto & Sasuke continue the battle against Madara and his group, the others deal with pleasant & unpleasant visions.

Naruto Shippuden is a 2006 shounen anime series, it is produced by Studio Pierrot and licensed by Viz Media. It is currently available on DVD in English.

Editor’s Note: Review copies of Naruto Shippuden set 34 and 35 were provided by Viz Media in support of this review.

Madara releases the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

Madara Uchiha has summoned the Infinite Tsukuyomi and has placed a majority of his opposing forces under the spell. Most of the time spent here in sets 34 & 35 deal with the dreams experienced by those under the genjustu’s wrath as their chakara is sucked from them unbeknownst to the victims. Core victims of the genjustu include Tenten, Choji, Kiba, and Tsunade among others

The Shinobi Alliance falls prey to the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

THE GOOD: In what may be considered filler to some most of what’s here actually does take place in the source material, although there is some extra content sprinkled in exclusive to the anime. This was likely done to fill in time so episodes wouldn’t run short. The dream sequences act as personal life goals of those under the Infinite Tsukuyomi taking shape in alternate realities basically. These are mostly bit parts outside of the Tsunade dream sequence which is rather lengthy. Back in reality, Sasuke’s Sharingan implant he inherited from Itachi shows him the truth about the former’s life.

While canon, the dream sequences do distract a bit much from the war.

THE BAD: There’s not much action, it’s present here and there but rather lacking for this segment of the big finale arc.

Tsunade’s dream sequence.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: As we reach the end game of Naruto Shippuden we’re provided with some mostly so-so distracting content from the action and Naruto & Sasuke’s whereabouts within the Infinite Tsukuyomi’s activation. We do eventually get Sasuke’s story, but it mostly deals with Itachi and his past. Otaku Dome gives Naruto Shippuden Set 34 a 75 out of 100 and Set 35 an 80.
