In case you missed it, several hours ago Marvel Studios released the trailer for the much expected Black Widow film starring the returning Scarlett Johansson as the titular character Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff. However knowing the events taken place prior to Avengers: Infinity War this film is an obvious midquel between Captain America: Civil War, and the former. On the surface Johansson’s character getting a long overdue solo spotlight feels a bit too late in the grand scheme of things, but like everything going on within the Marvel Cinematic Universe you can’t count out details like this as random coincidences. Some people have already created theories as to why Marvel has chosen now to do a Black Widow film, including the potential of her revival which could be possible with the introduction of the multiverse to the MCU in Spider-Man: Far From Home, as well as being followed up in Dr. Strange in the Multiverse Madness. There’s also the possibility that Black Widow may be replaced as an Avenger with one if not both of her comrades featured in the movie fellow Black Widow; Yelena Belova played by Florence Pugh and Iron Maiden played by Rachel Weisz. Black Widow is being released theatrically by Marvel Studios on May 1, 2020. You can check out the trailer below:
