Since it’s original premiere way back in 2003 (yeah well over a decade ago) there have been many fan-made theories that have come from the Venture Bros. community some of which range from realistic, plausible, ridiculous, and now confirmed. One such major working theory that has been ongoing for several years now involves just who the titular “Venture Brothers” actually are and it’s not paternal twins Hank and Dean Venture which the show wanted us to believe after so many years. Keep in mind that most fan theories contain spoilers and this is no different, so if you’ve been behind on the latest adventures of Team Venture then you might want to look away.

And now time for the spoilers….

The titular Venture Bros are actually Rusty Venture and The Monarch; who’s real name was revealed to be Malcolm earlier in the season. Yes you read that correctly, in the season seven finale “The Saphrax Protocol” Rusty is kidnapped by the Guild and is put up as an offering to The Monarch as a trial to his upgrade to level 10 villain status. Prior to the ritual beginning two Guild henchmen are running tests on Rusty and discover that he and Monarch are blood relatives. After offering Henchman 21 villain status, Monarch goes on a ballistic rant about how the Guild works and his distaste for it only for the “offering” of Dr. Venture to be a trick and as such Monarch & 21’s loyalty to each other gain them level 10 villain and henchman status respectively. After all of the celebrating one of the Guild henchmen from earlier spills the big secret after the credits roll off camera only for Monarch to respond with an appropriate “oh are you fucking kidding me!?”.

This is a fan theory that’s been around for at least the last several years . While Adult Swim hasn’t made an official announcement in regards to season 8 the finale did end with a line that reads “The Venture Bros. will return.” hinting at a likely special to cape off seven 7 and the even more likely eighth season. It’ll be interesting to see how Dr, Venture & Monarch’s dynamic evolves with the new information being given to them.
