The unfortunately short-lived CBS TV sequel to the film Limitless has come home to Blu-Ray. Taking place some point after the movie of the same name, Limitless stars Jack McDorman as new lead Brian Finch, and in a rare occurrence for TV sequels Bradley Cooper reprises his role as Edward Morra, this time around however Morra has become an relentless villain and the main antagonist of the series.
Limitless is an 2016 science fiction dramedy, it is produced by Relativity Television, and distributed by CBS Television. It is currently available on DVD and digital download.
Having had little to no expectations upon it’s announcement Limitless surprised critics and viewers for it’s excellent storytelling, performances, pacing, and genuine humor. Lead actor Jack McDorman in particular was an great new delight, and the return of Bradley Cooper in his previous role from the film was purely icing on an already delicious cake.
THE GOOD: The new cast from top to bottom barring of course Cooper as Morra (as far as new cast goes) is by far the highlight of the series. They sync so well together that there isn’t a single bad or annoying character in the series, from Brian, to Morra, to Mike & Ike of course, the series put together a rare casting that works 100% throughout the series run. The writing and humor in Limitless is some of the best you’ll see in a modern TV series, and I honestly believed that there was a certain magic about Limitless that you rarely see in TV shows today, and something we likely won’t see again, at least not for quite some time.
THE BAD: Unfortunately, Limitless left on a bit of a sour note with an semi-cliffhanger ending due to it’s cancellation, and sadly CBS wasn’t able to shop the series around to other networks for a second go round.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Limitless left us wanting more, and for now it won’t be able to feed our hunger. While it will undoubtedly go down as a cult classic with a potential revival in the future, for now what Limitless gave us, is some success in entertaining viewers greatly and for that all we can say is thank you to Craig Sweeny and the team that built the Limitless TV universe, it was fantastic while it lasted. Otaku Dome gives Limitless Season One Blu-Ray an 88 out of 100.
