Sentai Filmworks brings Kawai Complex home to Blu-Ray an DVD in a new US release. In Kawai Complex, Kazunari Usa is enjoying living live on his own at the titular Kawai Complex. While there he meets an array of unique characters who feel his life with never-ending excitement.
The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors & Hostel Behavior is an 2014 Slice of Life, Comedy anime series, it is produced by Brains Base, and licensed by Sentai Filmworks. It is currently available on DVD and Blu-Ray in the US in English subtitles.
After his parents decided to work out of town, Kazunari Usa made a simple request, he’d live anywhere so long that he had the option to live alone. His search for parental isolation leads him to the Kawai Complex, an apartment complex full of unique individuals who send his life spiraling out of control.
THE GOOD: Kawai Complex is a funny anime series with some adult humor spread throughout it’s run. the big-breasted Mayumi’s couple hating, the masochistic Shirosaki, and the predatory Sayaka are only the few comedic exploits shown during the twelve episode series run. Slice of Life fans may also find Brain Base’s animation style charming for the light-hearted anime series.
THE BAD: The series is short with only twelve episodes and an OVA, there’s also no English dub for US viewers on home media.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Kawai Complex is an enjoyably funny, but short anime series. Unfortunately there’s no native English language track for the US release, and there’s only a total of thirteen episodes, but these are minor annoyances above all else. If you have time to kill and want some light-hearted adult comedy, Kawai Complex is one to check out. Otaku Dome gives Kawai Complex Complete Series Blu-Ray an 75 out of 100.
