Kamisama Kiss is an romantic comedy anime series that, in a way is very reminiscent of fan favorite anime Inuyasha. With similar plot, characters, and other elements to compare the two, if you’ve seen the latter and enjoyed it then there’s an extremely high chance that you’ll love the former.
Kamisama Kiss is an 2012 shojo anime series, it is produced by TMS Entertainment, it is licensed by Funimation, and is currently available on DVD & Blu-Ray in English.
As previously mentioned, if you’ve seen and enjoyed Inuyasha, then by all means you should give at the very least a few episodes of Kamisama Kiss a chance. It won’t take long to make comparisons notes, and the series is just as enjoyable as Inuyasha. Comedy, action, an cutesy art style shapes Kamisama Kiss pretty well.
THE GOOD: While strongly comparable to Inuyasha (which is good for Inuyasha fans who are interested), Kamisama Kiss does have it’s own flare. The comedy for example is a lot better in comparison to Inuyasha’s. Action scenes while light, are decent enough to where they don’t feel like they’re just there.
THE BAD: Only twelve episodes in length for season two (thirteen for season one).
OVERALL THOUGHTS: While I’m not always particularly a fan of the genre, Kamisama Kiss is an entertaining shojo anime. The comparisons to Inuyasha make it a little hard to ignore if you’re a fan of that series. However stronger comedy than the former, and a charming art style gives it a feeling of it being it’s own special thing. Otaku Dome gives Kamisama Kiss season two an 82 out of 100.
