We spoke with The Farm 51′ s Wojciech Pazdur on a number of topics including their upcoming release Deadfall Adventures, the PS4 and Xbox One, and other things, our interview is below:
1. What inspired you to begin work on Deadfall Adventures?
Hundreds of things, but mostly the reason that we were always maniacs of fast-paced shooters and classic adventure movies and there was not so many of games that combines both moods. Many years ago we came to conclusion, that making a first person shooter in style of our favorite Hollywoood pictures is something we should do. We just had to wait for proper moment to gather big enough team and experience to not false-start it.
2. Your thoughts on the PS4 and Xbox One?
We’re quite with PC winning the race at this moment 🙂
But seriously: we’re very interested to be present at all major platforms and we hope there will be more than one that counts. Good that new consoles bring so much of computing power and new features, but we won’t make any judgments until we manage to run OUR games on them.
3. Your thoughts on PC gaming’s place in the 8th generation.
It’s great that gamers again have variety in platforms and their customization options. It’s great that developers again have ability to focus more on content than on it’s optimization. Amazing to see how the border between console and PC experience is melting and how new game genres appears all around in form or indie projects.
4. Upcoming projects you’d like to discuss?
Besides of plans to expand and support Deadfall Adventures world in many different ways, we’re approaching to development of Get Even soon. It’s going to be completely different game, blending the singleplayer and multiplayer experience in slightly futuristic first person action theme.
5. What can gamers look forward too from The Farm 51’s future?
We’re not the biggest game development studio in the world and we never planned to be. We want to stay focused, independent and heart-driven group of people who always love what they do. Fortunately for us, new platforms, new technologies, new distribution models, new types of games are already here. So the most excited thing in the future and our ultimate goal will be to use possibility to move a little bit from the fixed standards in game design to create something more personal and unique than any of our previous games.
6. If Deadfall Adventures is successful could a sequel be possible?
Definitely. We already have plans for next titles in this world, it’s just too early to reveal any details.
7. What can we expect from your follow-up project after Deadfall Adventures?
Our plan is the same as 8 years ago, when we started. Meaning: there will be more of skilled people in the team and bigger, better, more badass action games made by them. Stay tuned for more info when we’re ready to share it.
