What do you get when you mix Shounen with Ecchi? One of the likely results would be in the form of an anime series known as High School DXD, and it’s hardly for younger viewers.

High School DXD New is an 2013 Harem anime series, it is the sequel to High School DXD. It is produced by TNK and is licensed by Funimation. It is currently available on DVD, Blu-Ray, and through streaming services.

If you’re a fan of anime that’s heavy on nudity, but isn’t quite crossing the hentai barrier, then High School DXD New and it’s predecessor are right up your alley. Main character Issei Hyodo has only one goal in life, to become Harem King, and as the series progresses, it seems more and more likely to be coming a reality.

THE GOOD: Despite being borderline hentai with no sex, High School DXD does a good job of balancing out the nudity with comedy and great action scenes. While the boob jokes will get a bit out of control in amount, it should be remembered that this is an TV-MA rated comedy series.

THE BAD: The pacing gets a little fast for the single arc being covered, the count is 6 episodes per single arc, just like in High School DXD. The awful part about this is when the arc actually picks up it’s soon over with before you’ve enjoyed it long enough.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: While some might not appreciate the adult humor, those who do get a kick out of the Adult Swim-esque comedy will find a ton of laughs (and nudity to boot). Despite the consistent nudity jokes, High School DXD New turns out to be a fairly solid anime series with well balanced comedy and story. However the fast pacing will often get in the way when an arc is starting to get good. Otaku Dome gives High School DXD New an 80 out of 100.
