In Haganai, main characters Kodaka & Yozora were childhood friends who were later separated not too long after meeting. They unwittingly reunite in Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends, where they form the “Neighborhood Club” for the sole purpose of finding friends. Though some characters make you realize why they don’t have friends fairly quickly in the season.

Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends is one of those anime series that’s too long for it’s own good. Having a very promising start, things go downhill in the later half of the series. So much so that it’s a miracle that most of these characters are social at all.

THE GOOD: The comedy and emotion of the first half of the season is sincere and genuine. You actually start to feel sorry for the main characters Kodaka & Yozora, as well as their club mates. This only last for the first half of the season, unfortunately.

Sena & Yozora's feud is one of the funny running gags in the series.

THE BAD: The second half of Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends greatly expanded the flaws of most of the characters and the probable reasons as to why they don’t have any friends to begin with.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends provides a fun, comical, and genuine first half for season one. The characters are honest and make you feel sorry for them, however the latter half of season one greatly exposes their flaws (rather this was intentional or not remains to be seen), and it shows exactly why so many of these characters are friendless. Otaku Dome gives Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends Blu-Ray Classic an 68 out of 100.
