In September 2022 the world was shaken and the internet was broken after verified gameplay footage of an early build for the previously announced Grand Theft Auto VI was leaked. The leak revealed in-game gameplay, level layouts, character animations, and more. It would also reveal the franchise’s first female playable lead Lucia and her partner Jason.

The leak was later confirmed by Rockstar Games and several accounts posting the leaks were struck down by the publisher. A year and three months later the sequel would suffer another major leak as the official debut trailer scheduled for tomorrow (Dec. 5) would leak about 15 hours before its scheduled release. The leak would unfortunately force Rockstar to release the official version of the trailer almost immediately afterwards which can be seen below:

Featuring Tom Petty’s Love is a Long Road the trailer stars Lucia and Jason. The duo traverses several cities including Vice City and eventually gets into a chase with law enforcement and later attempts a robbery. Lucia at one point is shown to be incarcerated and several references to the modern day are made such as those related to Netflix & TikTok. While no official date was announced the release window of 2025 was revealed at the end of the trailer.
