If you’re a Nintendo Switch player who frequently plays on the console undocked then there’s some good news for you. A new gaming accessory company known as Fixture S1 has announced a new clip for the console with comfortability in mind. There’s also a traveling case that pairs with the Fixture quite well.
The Fixture S1 is a 2021 gaming clip mount for the Nintendo Switch. Priced at $34.99 solo or $49.99 with the carrying case it’s a pretty solid buy for Switch owners who just don’t like compromising their TVs with it docked. Set up is fairly simple you literally just clip it onto your Switch and Pro Controller & you’re set. However, I do have a small issue with the Fixture S1 that isn’t necessarily Fixture’s fault.
Editor’s Note: A review unit for the Fixture S1 & carrying case bundle was provided by Fixture Gaming in support of this review.
THE GOOD: If you just can’t fathom the idea of playing your Nintendo Switch when docked then the Fixture S1 is perfect for you. All you do is remove the joycons and snap in your Switch & Pro Controller into the clip and you’re good to go. The design of the the Fixture S1 is convenient as hell. It’s modeled in such a way that you can play and charge your Switch without either getting in the way of one another. The clip end is adjustable for comfort and convenience sake. The case is also somehow able to fit everything including your joycons. When I first saw it in person I was a bit taken aback by it’s design, but it works just as it’s supposed to. There’s even a pouch for you to put accessories in as well as an area that fits up to ten game cartridges. The case itself is light, but durable making for on the go gaming incredibly easy. It’s small size also saves on space when traveling.
THE BAD: My one grip with the Fixture S1 is the fact that it may already be outdated. And by that I mean it’s one size fit only. There’s reportedly a new Nintendo Switch Pro model on the way and it’ll feature a new, bigger screen. If this is in fact real then that’s already a problem for the Fixture S1. Again not Fixture’s fault, just a matter of bad timing. I mentioned earlier how it’s one size fits all. I think if Fixture aimed for a more universal clip such as a one size fits all for not just Nintendo Switch’s but smartphones and tablets then they have a real money maker on their hands.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: The Fixture S1 is a must buy for Nintendo Switch owners new and old. It beats out competition by putting comfort and convenience first. The case, while not necessary is a fine bonus that makes gaming on the go that much easier. Otaku Dome gives the Fixture S1 a 90 out of 100.
