Eye in the Sky is an 2015 thriller film which takes a look at the costs of war, as well as the dangers of drone use in public spaces. Though the plot may have been explored before in recent films of a similar story, Eye in the Sky’s script, acting performances, and drama makes it’s messages as clear as day.
Eye in the Sky is an 2015 thriller film, it is produced and distributed by Entertainment One. It releases this week on DVD & Blu-Ray.
Eye in the Sky may have a familiar plot for some, but it’s anything but your ordinary drone warfare film. With powerful drama and acting performances from both British and American actors, Eye in the Sky explores the true dangers of drone usage in war and why it should always be seen as a last result if possible.
THE GOOD: Drone warfare isn’t a new plot point for drama and thriller films, in fact at this point one could say these films have overstayed their welcome. Thankfully a film like Eye in the Sky comes around every so often which makes exploring the subject matter again all worth while. The use of a drone to explore the sacrifices of war and the dangers of their use was a nice change of pace for this story. With heavy focus on the danger and consequences rather than the actual usage of the drone.
THE BAD: The plot has been done to death, but Eye in the Sky is a welcome change.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Eye in the Sky has a well known plot, but an entirely different story. Taking a look at the dangers of using drones as not only an advantage in war, but in public endangering civilian lives is one of the many drone use issues that haven’t been fully explored in film. Otaku Dome gives Eye in the Sky an 85 out of 100.
